I have lived in Oklahoma City nearly my whole life. After moving away my freshman year of college to go to Oklahoma State for one year, I came right back. Traveling and experiencing new things are both high on my list of interests, but there’s just a big part of me that loves coming back to what has always been home! I live a mile and a half from the two family homes I lived for all of my formative years, and half a mile from my high school. 😳Okay, if I’m being honest, I’d rather live farther away from my high school. The dream is to eventually live on land in the country and have chickens and a garden. BUT, in the meantime, some really cool things can sometimes happen from being so close to where I grew up.
One of those things was getting to do David and Lilly’s maternity session! Why is that cool, you may ask? I actually went to elementary school with David’s older sister, which is who told Lilly about me! (By the way, any time someone tags me or shares something of mine with a friend – you make me feel so special. Just wanted to put that out there!) It’s so surreal to be reaching the age where it’s not just my friends who are getting married and having babies, but the younger siblings of my childhood friends. How is that possible?! David and Lilly will be welcoming their little boy, Lucas Preston, in just a few short weeks. I enjoyed sharing a little bit about #boymom life with Lilly!
It was so much fun collaborating with Lilly for their shoot. I LOVED their outfits. Hot pink, two-piece maternity dress? Yes, please! I typically lean towards softer colors, but there’s no denying how stunning she looked in that dress… both of her dresses really! We started their shoot in “downtown” Piedmont. I’m not sure how familiar you are with downtown Piedmont, but calling it a downtown may be a stretch. However, it has super cute old buildings and next to zero traffic. Plus there’s a little Chinese restaurant that smelled AMAZING. According to Lilly and David, it’s the best Chinese around. So, if you’re looking for a new place to get your General Tso’s chicken, go to Piedmont!
Before we left for our second location, I asked Lilly and David what their wedding song was. “Perfect” by Ed Sheeren. They slow-danced to it again for just a few minutes, and I felt like I was watching them re-create the magic from their wedding. 🥰It made me think of my own wedding and first dance, and I swooned. So much love! Honestly, they were magic all throughout our shoot – wedding song playing or not. I feel so lucky every time I get to be a part of big moments like this! Check out a few of my favorite pictures from their shoot!
